Beating the Block

June 26, 2016

You know how it goes; some weeks you’re spilling over with ideas and then others… meh, you’re running on empty.  Inspiration is a fickle thing; you can’t bottle it and it comes and goes like the family cat – on top of you one minute, then off prowling the neighbourhood the next.  Blogger’s Block – just like writer’s block – is tough!  It can make you feel emotionally and creatively constipated and damn it, there’s just no magic, cure-all to get things moving again.  In a word, it sucks.

Jealousy And Sadness

June 9, 2016

Every time I opened my facebook and twitter and saw those friend of mine jubilant, traveling with their loved ones make me jealous and sad.  I also want that happiness to be felt with mine and with my family. I can only imagine things for myself and family. There is no point of arguing myself, but this feeling makes me cry. I can't do anything for my family and loved ones no matter how I try. Including now seeing my grandmother suffering from her illness and can't move in her bed. It makes me sad thinking that I can't bring her there what we build. I want to show to my family the house that my King bought for our future. But I can't do it in this kind of situation right now. No one will blame; only the time is so short. If only I have powers to do things that make my family happy.

I am full of jealousy even though some people can see that I have more than anything, but they are wrong. I'm happy but bittersweet sometimes. It took some magical spell for me to laugh or feel joy. No matter how I try, I think this is only my luck in this life. Being alive in this world is difficult. More than anything life is unfair. I experienced happiness but more often is thinking of what I've been and what did I do with my life. Why am like this, I can only stare my laptop, keyboard and window thinking all the things I want to achieve. Sometimes it's difficult to breathe when people are underestimating my freedom to express what I believe in. Being always in this kind of situation make me want to be silent and never argue to anyone. I know they are more knowledgeable than me, but please respect me as I respect yours. Changing myself is what I also want including my style, appearances, etc. but I'm afraid being judged. I better to stay silent in my square room and think of better things to do without comparing myself to others.

I felt sad, sorrowful. I was thinking things so fast for our future like we built our house as soon as possible. Buy things for our home, pay bills and soon after if things work out and we have a lot of savings we can travel. I'm stingy and think more about the future than the present. Spend money when you are left with nothing it's not for me. It's better to save now for the future and spend later when there is more. Just the ants, they save foods before the drought is coming and I was like an Ant. In some ways, most people think of enjoying their youth spending time traveling than saving believing that you can never get back your youth without enjoying it. For me, it's better to save now as long as I'm young and healthy than saving when I get old and become miserable when the time comes and left nothing. Saving money when you are old is difficult than when you start saving when you're young. There's an age limit for everything by abiding the law of humanity. I knew how difficult life is because I've been to a less fortunate family. We've been struggling every day in or life before but thankful to my mother she knows how to budget the small amount of my father's salary. It was the key and my inspiration to strive more.

But times is inevitable when there are things that are not coming on your way. I can only see through those situations that I'm now and maybe let it be as the waterfalls couldn't stop as it flows. I can only complain, but I can't do anything. Sometimes I can think of why they have it all and I can only have this. Why they can go there and why I/we can't go there. Lack of money makes things difficult. I hate that money was invented because it only shows the living status of every family in the society. Life is full different emotions; we can say that we are a living creature when we felt those what they called emotions. I may be full of jealousy and sad, but I will not do things bad just to acquire what others have. I will be quietly observing and make the right choice. Wait until it's my time; because life is like wheels, it will turn our life upside down.

Follow Your Destiny, Wherever It Leads You

May 29, 2016

Follow Your Destiny, Wherever It Leads You
- by Vicki Silvers

There comes a time in your life when you realize that if you stand still, you will remain at this point forever. You realize that if you fall and stay down, life will pass you by.

Life's circumstances are not always what you might wish them to be. The pattern of life does not necessarily go as you plan. Beyond any understanding, you may at times be led in different directions that you never imagined, dreamed, or designed. Yet if you had never put any effort into choosing a path, or tried to carry out your dream, then perhaps you would have no direction at all...

Rather than wondering about or questioning the direction your life has taken, accept the fact that there is a path before you now. Shake off the "why's" and "what if's", and rid yourself of confusion.
Whatever was ~ is in the past. Whatever is ~ is what's important. The past is a brief reflection. The future is yet to be realized. Today is here.

Walk your path one step at a time ~ with courage, faith, and determination. Keep your head up, and cast your dreams to the stars. Soon your steps will become firm, and your footing will be solid again.

A path that you never imagined will become the most comfortable direction you could have ever hoped to follow.

Keep your belief in yourself and walk into your new journey. You will find it magnificent, spectacular, and beyond your wildest imaginings.

Effects Of New Technology

Discoveries and invention of devices are always welcome till we, humans, find a way to abuse it's benefits and adversely affected by it. This was the case when Wilhelm Roentgen discovered x-ray and within five years, the British Army was using a mobile x-ray unit to locate bullets and shrapnel in wounded soldiers in the Sudan. TV was also invented with positive thoughts in mind -  there would be no national borders, education and communication would be worldwide, etc. However, we are now trying to overcome it's physiological effects of watching TV in excessive amounts that can cause eye - strain. It is true that there are specifications for watching. TV should be placed at the same height with our eyes. In some way, these do not prevent our eyes from getting tired if we keep watching tv for a long period of time. Another effect is obesity, which is widely observed in people who like watching TV or even watching through computers, laptops and smartphone. Most people love to eat snacks with all the foods beside them while watching. New invented technology is such a powerful that people cannot get away from it.

Apart from the physiological effects. Technology also causes psychological effects. One is a result of being exposed to violence. After seeing so many violent scenes, people start considering violent actions as normal and can cause lose control and sensitivity to their environment. Partly connected to this effect, the suffering of others causes people to become alienated. Some of this example is like after coming from work. People seek to relax in front of the TV, and generally people prefer watching TV than talking to each other. This issue is very important since lack of interpersonal relationships mostly end with break-ups, annulment and divorces. Shortly, inventions are meant to be beneficial for human beings if we know how to benefit from it. Technology is one of such inventions that need to be used for the right purpose if only being educated and entertained for a reasonable ( according to age ) period of time. We may then be safe from it or at least reduce the adverse physiological and psychological effects of the new technology.

Sanitation Engineer Is Needed

October 8, 2015

Last week, the sanitation engineer in our company had a vacation leave. Some of the employees got irritated it's because the restroom was not clean, and the garbage was not thrown away. It stuck in the office and also there's no water to drink. There's a gallon of water at the first floor, but there's no man to carry it and put it on the water dispenser. If I have the guts to carry it, I may be able to carry with my capability. Before, if there's no water in a dispenser, I change it and put the one gallon of water in the dispenser. I did it unnoticed so that nobody will tease me. I don't want to show off my big muscles. Ajaja Really sanitation engineer is imperative not only in the office but also in the community. People sometimes not to care the trash to be put in the garbage. They throw in anywhere. Despite the status of the living person, we must need to be educated with our surroundings. Not just the sanitation engineer but also us people who belong in the society.

Post Challenge For Tonight

Lately, I'd been changing my templates again. I want to have a design that will suit on my imagination. However, I didn't found it on all the templates that I already used. I want to ask my king a help again regarding my templates design, but I don't want to interrupt again in his work. Remember the 2nd templates of my blog in which my king was working made him sick. Ajaja Now, I'm okey with my new templates again since it's new again. There is one thing I noticed that every post I make which includes many photos the post will show in homepage alone, and my other previous post will not show. I posted my travel experience yesterday that include many pictures but only my latest post will show in my homepage; and my first travel to Cebu is not showing in the homepage and others post even though I set 10 posts per page. Hence, I can find my posts on the blog archive and labels which the link is clickable. I was posting a sample post, and my previous post was starting to appear. I search it on the internet and found out that blogger limit the post that has the big capacity, and they called it pagination.

Questions:

Why is my blog shows few entries per page?

Blogger recently implemented a mechanism called “auto pagination” to reduce the loading time of its blogs. This mechanism is to show less Blogger entries per page if it detects that the page is heavy to load.

To avoid that this happens, you can try to decrease the load time of your blog, some recommendations are:

Optimizing images. For example, using Smush.it or a free image editor like Gimp.
Eliminate unnecessary gadgets.
Use “read more” in your longer posts.
Optimize CSS code. For example, with CSS Optimizer.

Limits on Blogger

We try to give you a lot of room to play here on Blogger, so you'll see that a lot of the important "limits" here aren't really very limiting. But just in case you were wondering, here is some information about what a single Blogger account will hold.

Number of Blogs: You can have up to 100 blogs per account.

Number of Posts: There is no limit on the number of posts you can have on one blog. They will all be saved on your account (unless you manually delete them) regardless of whether you are publishing archives or not.

Number of Pages: There is no limit on the number of pages you can have on one blog.

Size of Posts: Individual posts do not have a specific size limit, but very large posts may run you up against the page size limit. (See the next item.)

Size of Pages: Individual pages (the main page of your blog, or your archive pages) are limited to 1 MB in size. This will allow for a few hundred pages of text, but it may be a problem if you are listing hundreds of posts on the front page of your blog. If you hit this limit, you will see an error message saying "006 Please contact Blogger Support." You can get around this error by lowering the number of posts on your main page, which will have the added benefit of making your page load faster as well.

Number of Comments: A post can have any number of comments. As with archived posts, if you choose to hide comments on your blog, all pre-existing comments will remain saved on your account.

Number of Pictures: Up to 1 GB of total storage, shared with Picasa Web. If you've upgraded to Google+, your photos will be stored in Google Photos, where you have 15GB of storage space shared with Gmail and Drive.

Size of Pictures: If you are posting pictures through Blogger Mobile there is a limit of 250K per picture.

Team Members: There is a limit of 100 members per blog.

Number of Labels: Up to 2000 unique labels per blog and 20 per post.

Blog Description: Limited to 500 characters, with no HTML. Adding additional characters or HTML may cause it to revert to a previous setting.

"About Me" Profile Information: Maximum of 1,200 characters.

Profile Interests and Favorites: Maximum of 2,000 characters in each field.

Importing blogs: there are no file size limits for importing blog. Limits for number of imports in a day may apply.

Note: Users of the discontinued BlogSpot Plus service have a slightly different set up. Since these accounts included full FTP access, they were limited to either 25 MB or 100 MB, depending on which type of upgrade they had. In these cases, if you fill up your allotted space with images or other files, then you may not be able to upload new posts. To get around this, you will need to remove unused files from the account in order to free up more space.

Backup For My 100GB Photos And Videos

October 1, 2015

I want to start something new and to be more organize on my photos and arranging it in a modified dates. Using my new cameras that can produce high quality of images. I want to be thorough on my new albums that well organize. To make my plan to happen I need to backup my 100GB collections of photos and videos from my external HDD. I really don't know how and where to backup since it's already thousands of photos. I really can't imagine the hours that I will be spending  to backup and to make my files safe because I'm afraid that someday my HDD will giveup and broken. In fact I was thinking to burn my photos and videos on DVD-RW's; but the capacity is only 4.7 GB and I need 21 DVD's to be able to save it. However DVD's can be easily broken or maybe someday DVD reader will not be applicable. What I need is a cloud server though I know the price is high so I will only stick to whatever I can avail for free. All I want is to keep my photos and videos permanently and safe. I've been asking help from my king and he told me that we need dropbox pro subsciption just for a month to be able to sync my 100GB files. Since he will be the one to pay then I will go for it, and we can choose either monthly or yearly subscription to a Dropbox Pro 1 TB plan. I have already my 53GB space on my dropbox but it's not enough so we will just wait the approval of my kings dropbox account. Here is the sample questions for dropbox paid account:

What happens if my paid account or promotion expires?
-If your paid account expires or is downgraded, or the space granted to your account by a promotion expires, all of the files in your Dropbox folder will still be available to you on your computers, phones, and via the Dropbox website. However, Dropbox will stop syncing the files in your account if your usage is now over your new quota. This means that new files added to your Dropbox won't sync to other computers or be available online until the amount of space used in your Dropbox drops below the amount of available space in your account.

-For example, if you have a 1 TB Pro account with 800 GB of data and you decide to downgrade to a Basic 2 GB account, your files will stop syncing because you don't have available storage space in your account. In this case, you'll probably want to upgrade your account to ensure all of your files are syncing again.

While waiting for a week before I can finally sync my photos to dropbox; I slowly upload my photos on my facebook even though the internet is so slow but still I need to do it. I was thankful for facebook media album because I can organize my album in particular order. If I decide to download my photo albums on facebook I will simply install the firefox addon facepaste it will automatically download all the photos or even all the albums on facebook. However the photos are minimize and the quality is not that quite good like the original file; it's because facebook will compress the photos. Though it will happen like that but it's okey with me as long all my photos are in archive.

    About this Facepaste
-To use this add-on, simply right click in the page and click "Download Facebook album(s)". You can do this in a single album, or a "Photos of You", or a "Photos" page. Also, you can download multiple albums from a user at once by doing this on the user's "Albums" page. You can even download videos in albums just like photos.

Eventually I'm starting to upload all my photos on my facebook while deleting the source file to minimize the capacity of my HDD. I'm not worried that I will delete my photos and videos on my HDD it's because I already backup it on my laptop and on my king PC. After all there is dropbox and facebook storage that will secure my files in the future.

Heneral Luna Movie An Eye Opener For The Filipinos

Heneral Luna is a 2015 Filipino historical biopic film depicting General Antonio Luna's leadership of the Philippine Revolutionary Army during the Philippine-American War. It opens with the beginning of hostilities with the American colonizers, and ends with the assassination of Luna on June 5, 1899 - a period in which Luna served as Supreme Chief of the Army under the First Philippine Republic.

Directed by Jerrold Tarog and produced by Artikulo Uno Productions, the film has garnered critical acclaim from critics and audiences alike, praising its cinematography, writing, acting and plot. With an estimated budget of 80 million pesos, it is one of the most expensive Filipino epic historical films ever released. The film has been selected as the Philippine entry for the Best Foreign Language Film at the 88th Academy Awards.

    Plot

President Emilio Aguinaldo (Mon Confiado) and his cabinet are debating the issue of the American presence in the Philippines. Felipe Buencamino (Nonie Buencamino) and Pedro Paterno (Leo Martinez) support the American occupation, while Prime Minister Apolinario Mabini (Epi Quizon) and General Antonio Luna (John Arcilla) want independence for the Philippines. Luna asks the cabinet to authorize a pre-emptive strike while the Americans have yet to land their ground troops. Aguinaldo however assured his cabinet that the Americans had promised him to win the country's freedom from their Spanish overlords. Unfortunately, the Americans have invaded key cities in Manila, declaring war against the Filipinos.

Luna and his trusted comrades – General José Alejandrino (Alvin Anson), Colonel Francisco “Paco” Román (Joem Bascon), Captain Eduardo Rusca (Archie Alemania), Captain José Bernal (Alex Medina) and Colonel Manuel Bernal (Art Acuña) – embark on an arduous campaign against the invading American forces. During an intense battle against troops led by General Arthur MacArthur (Romcel Musa), Luna asks for reinforcements from the Kawit Battalion but its commander, Captain Pedro Janolino (Ketchup Eusebio), refuses to comply because the order did not come from President Aguinaldo. Luna angrily rides to Janolino's camp, humiliates him in front his men, and dismisses the battalion for insubordination. Luna then assembles an army of 4,000 soldiers by declaring his infamous "Article One", stating that all who refuse to follow his orders shall be executed without the benefit of a trial in a military court.

As the war drags on, Buencamino and Paterno indicate their support of a proposal by the Americans for Philippine autonomy. Enraged by this, Luna orders their arrest. Luna’s campaign is undermined by General Tomás Mascardo (Lorenz Martinez), who opposes Luna's order for reinforcements, stating that he will only follow the President's direct orders. While the two generals are about to clash in Pampanga, the Americans advance steadily as other Filipino generals like Gregorio del Pilar (Paulo Avelino) retreat to the north. Luna visits Aguinaldo and Mabini to file his resignation, knowing that Buencamino and Paterno had been set free. Aguinaldo refuses to accept his resignation, but agrees to let Luna establish a headquarters for the Philippine Army in the north.

Later, Luna is summoned by telegram to the President’s headquarters in Cabanatuan. Although his officers are suspicious, Luna rides to Cabanatuan, bringing only Román and Rusca with him. Most of the soldiers had already left headquarters under President Aguinaldo's orders, with the exception of some elements of the Kawit Battalion. Luna discovers upon arrival that Aguinaldo had already left and only Buencamino remains in the office. As they exchange heated words, a single shot is fired outside. Luna investigates and encounters Janolino and his men, who attack him. Luna is shot, stabbed, and hacked repeatedly to death. Román is also killed while a wounded Rusca surrenders to the Kawit soldiers. All of Luna's remaining loyal officers are arrested, while some are killed, including the Bernal brothers.

As ordered by Aguinaldo, Luna is buried with full military honors by the Kawit Battalion - the same men who killed him. Mabini, who is among the mourners, notices a bloodied machete of one of the soldiers; however, the Kawit Battalion would be exonerated thereafter. The Americans acknowledge Luna as a worthy adversary and the only real general the Philippine Army had.

In the mid-credits scene, del Pilar gathers Luna's remaining men and orders his aide to select 60 of them.

    My Own Reflections:

In the movie there are certain words that Heneral Antonio Luna said that remains in my mind here are:

    1. Our own enemy is ourselves
    2. We can defeat them by our tactics
    3. Our allies is our enemy

The movie shows that politics is a business to achieve power and money. People are blinded with power and money to extend that they are willing to kill anybody who are an obstacle to their own greedy motives. Even up to this days we are surrounded by the people who are greedy especially our own government. They are washing their hands with the use of money, power and media.

People right now are savoring too much freedom thanks for those people who sacrifice their selves just to save our nation. However are we really free? We are a prisoners of our own country as what Heneral Luna said our own allies is our enemy. Filipinos are killing each others just to achieve power and money. In fact what we all need is unity to achieve the freedom that we really need.

I made this poem year 2008 as our teacher required us to write a poem. All poems that was written by individual students was required to put it in the blackboard with our names written at the back of the coupon bond where the poems are written. Then the english and tagalog poem was sub divided. The students will put a green paper dots to stick the poem that they have chosen. My written poem that was written in english was choosen among all the other poems and our teacher gave me a medal. I never thought that my poem will match up to this year historical movie of the Philippines. Here is my poem that I offer for the whole nation and to whole world.

    The World To Live
    by: Reu

How wonderful to live in the world
    Where all nations are free
To live in the silence of peace
Like a bird flying in the sky

But how can we live at peace
If nations are in cage of darkness
The sword of freedom is in the hands of people
Sword of unity is the key to freedom

    Release the cage of darkness
    And give light to nations
    For the love of motherland
Is in the sword of unity.
